I. Overview of Off-Grid New Energy Household System

Different from the traditional industrial and commercial on-grid system, the off-grid new energy household system has become the preferred choice for the household users in the no-electricity area and the high electricity cost area because of its rich application scenarios, small investment and convenient installation.

According to different technologies and applications, off-grid new energy home systems can be divided into three categories: photovoltaic power storage system, wind power storage system, wind-solar hybrid power generation and storage system.

(1) Photovoltaic Power Storage Systems:

PV power generation and storage system consists of pv module array, off-grid / Parallel off-grid inverter, storage battery, installation bracket, cable and distribution equipment.

(2) Wind Power Generation and Storage Systems:

The wind power generation and storage system is composed of wind turbine, fan controller, inverter, battery, installation bracket, cable and other equipment.

(3) Wind-solar Hybrid Power Generation and Storage System:

Wind-solar hybrid power generation and storage system is composed of pv module array, wind generator, wind / pv Controller, control cabinet, storage battery, installation bracket, cable and other equipment.

According to the local electricity demand, the above-mentioned systems can be equipped with the input of city electricity and oil generator to realize the multi-energy combined power supply mode.

II. Application scenario of Off-grid new energy household system:

l   Photovoltaic power storage systems:

(1) Off On-grid photovoltaic power storage system:

This system is suitable for households with high electricity cost or unstable power access. Through the use of off-grid photovoltaic power storage technology and intelligent power switching technology, this system can meet the needs of home spontaneous self-use, surplus electricity uploading grid, the peak and valley electricity, emergency electricity and so on.

(2) Off-grid photovoltaic power storage system:

This system is suitable for households without electricity-access, the system can replace conventional diesel generators, and provide a long-term and stable power supply. The system can provide 24-hour stable power supply to meet the electricity needs of households without electricity-access.

l Wind power storage system:

This system is suitable for households in wind-rich areas (e.g. plateau, coastal and other places), by installing wind turbines, control cabinets, inverter equipment, it can convert wind power resources into electrical energy, then storage the electricity in the battery storage, through these it solves the demand for electricity for a family.

l   Wind-solar Hybrid Power Generation and Storage System:

The system with its two energy complementary characteristics, applicable to electricity households around the world, through the installation of landscape integrated control cabinets and monitoring management units, to achieve the combination of two power generation technology, intelligent energy management technology for wind power generation, photovoltaic power generation equipment output power control, and jointly for the user's load and energy storage battery power supply, To solve the single photovoltaic power generation, wind power generation by the climate of the major disadvantages, at the same time can be connected to the main power generation and fuel engines, the formation of multi-energy complementary home power supply system.

Case Profile: Off-Grid 7KW Photovoltaics and 30kWh Storage Energy Villa System in Nigeria

The project is located in Lagos, there are regular power outages, the owners used a hybrid power generation method (city electricity and diesel generator). They have a 20kVA diesel generator, the monthly consumption of diesel fuel is about 1000 liters, the annual electricity bill of 58,200 yuan;

Depending on the customer's electricity consumption and the average 5.6 hours’ sunshine, we designed the system. The system is equipped with 7KW photovoltaic module array, and 120 knots iron phosphate lithium battery(3.2V76Ah), to meet the customer's electricity demand of 40kWh throughout the day (Concentrated electricity consumption time is about 12 hours a day, energy storage powers about 7 hours, photovoltaic powers about 5 hours). Considering the local power access, we chose the 10KW off-grid inverter, and set the power supply sequence: photovoltaic energy > storage > on-grid power, when on-grid power is shortage, oil machine can be manually started. The owners can minimize the cost of electricity.

The investment of the whole system is about 95,000 yuan, annual power generation is about 12000kWh. The system can stabilize power supply for more than 25 years, the configuration of high-capacity battery fully meets the system reliability requirements., it can support heavy electricity for more than 1 day when it’s rainy day or outage.

III. Advantages of off-grid new energy household solution:

1. The system can realize power supply through a variety of energy combining, it can ensure electricity stability, and saver the cost of electricity;

2. Instead of the power grid, it relies on the "side storage edge" or "save before use", to solve the power demand in the no-grid area and unstable power area;

3. Compared to the diesel generator, the system’s cost is very low, for example, the full-life power generation cost is 0.5 yuan/degree, lower than that of the fuel engine in China;

4. The system life is very long, and it is almost maintenance-free. Photovoltaic module can be used for more than 25 years, the average life of wind turbine is 10-15 years, inverter and battery’s life is 8-10 years;

5. When diesel generator is working, it produces the 60 decibel noise and high exhaust emissions. As for the off-grid new energy household solution, the whole generating process is non-polluting, no noise;
